The Missouri Council on Aging (MCoA) supports the senior levy fund network in Missouri. Senior levy boards manage funds that connect older adults to essential services. Passed in the Missouri General Assembly in 1989 RSMo 67.990 allows counties to go to the votes to allow a tax of up to 5 cents per $100 of assessed valuation upon all taxable property for the purpose providing services to persons sixty years of age or older. MCoA supports the network through providing resources and hosting a space for collaboration of best practices. MCoA will assist two rural counties to get a levy fund to support programs for older adults.

Debbie Gwin, Platte County Senior Fund “After attending my first Senior Levy Board meeting in 2019, I believed that an Association could provide the organization, resources, and strong voice needed to better serve older adults in Missouri. The Executive Directors of Clay and Platte Counties, and the City of St. Louis met and MCoA was formed in October 2020.”
