The Missouri Association of Levy Boards & Senior Organizations (MoALSO) assisted and supported senior levy boards through networking and education. Now the Missouri Council on Aging is continuing this great work for groups interested in passing a senior levy in their counties and existing senior levy boards. Passed in the Missouri General Assembly in 1989 RSMo 67.990 allows counties to go to the votes to allow a tax of up to 5 cents per $100 of assessed valuation upon all taxable property for the purpose of providing services to persons sixty years of age or older.

Debbie Gwin, Platte County Senior Fund

“After attending my first Senior Levy Board meeting in 2019, I believed that an Association could provide the organization, resources, and strong voice needed to better serve older adults in Missouri. The Executive Directors of Clay and Platte Counties, and the City of St. Louis met and MCoA was formed in October 2020.”
